The Libra Association has appointed Robert Werner, former Director of the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), as the General Counsel.

Earlier, Werner also headed the US Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). Mr. Robert Werner has vast experience in regulatory compliance within the public and private sectors. He also held senior positions at HSBC and Goldman Sachs.

Recall that at the beginning of this month, the Libra Association appointed the former Undersecretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence in the Department of the Treasury of the United States, Stuart Levy as a new head.

Recently, the Libra Association welcomed a new member – the largest investment company in Asia Temasek and two venture companies with a focus on the cryptocurrency space Slow Ventures and Paradigm.

Last month, the Association introduced an updated whitepaper. According to the document, instead of one digital currency, a set of stablecoins will be issued, backed by different fiat currencies.
