McDonald’s and Starbucks among the 19 stores and restaurants that will participate in testing the digital currency payment system (DCEP) of China, reports CoinDesk.

The Xiong’An district Reformation and Development Commission in Hebei Province held a meeting on the deployment of the DC/EP pilot project in the region.

The event was attended by representatives of four state-owned commercial banks in China, Ant Financial, Tencent, as well as 19 restaurants and retail stores.

In addition to McDonald’s and Starbucks, including well-known brands Subway, JD, and others.

The readiness of the digital yuan for pilot tests at the People’s Bank of China was announced last December.

Earlier, the Agricultural Bank of China began testing an application for DC/EP.

In May digital yuan will be handed out to officials of the country’s four largest commercial state banks, including Agricultural Bank of China, Bank of China, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, and China Construction Bank.
