The Swiss Ministry of Finance has begun discussions on a regulation that will introduce the legal framework for regulating the blockchain and crypto industry at the state level in August 2021, says a press release.
Discussion of the document between the cantons, political parties, and interested groups will end on February 2. The aim of the amendment package is to adapt legislation to developments in the field of blockchain technology and the cryptocurrency industry.
Previously, the legal regulations for the exchange of digital securities, the asset recovery procedure, as well as the requirements for launching trading platforms were approved in the Senate and the House of Representatives.
Recall that in September, the University of Lugano and the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland created the Association of Blockchain Technologies to support and develop the blockchain.
