Telegram has withdrawn a lawsuit against the American startup Lantah LLC regarding the use of the Gram trademark. Bloomberg Law reports.
According to the judge’s decision, Telegram will cover Lantah’s legal costs. The parties must agree on the amount separately.
The court left Telegram with the right to file claims for the use of the Gram trademark in the future.
Recall that Telegram filed a lawsuit against Lantah in 2018, as the messenger planned to issue a digital currency called Gram as part of the launch of the Telegram Open Network (TON) blockchain platform.
Lantah said the company publicly used the Gram name before it learned about Telegram’s plans.
Representatives of the messenger believed that Lantah wants to make money by selling tokens under the same name.
The company decided to withdraw the claim after Pavel Durov announced the closure of the TON project under pressure from the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the US court’s ban on the distribution of Gram tokens.
